Your Privacy
Ugh. Another privacy policy. We hear you. We’ve all been sent lengthy, confusing policy notices from financial institutions, doctor’s offices, and social websites, or have been forced to opt into a privacy policy when we install a mobile app. Privacy policies are supposed to help us make informed privacy decisions. But how many of us actually read those policies?
The truth is, almost nobody reads a privacy policy. When we do, we often struggle to understand what parts actually pertain to us. The policies are generally written to show how the business, website, app, etc. is compliant with current privacy regulations, but the formal language and vague terms often leave us (the consumers) unsure as to what actually happens to our data.
Europe’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) calls for more usable privacy notices and solutions, so in the simplest language possible, and with the least amount of jargon:
- Your data. Nibble Sip has your best interests in mind. We do not share your name, email address, or any other personal information with anyone, so please subscribe to our email newsletters, make comments on posts, and contact us through our website with confidence.
- Emails. We use a third-party service provider called Mad Mimi (a GoDaddy company) to send out our latest post emails and monthly newsletters. When you subscribe, you give us your email address, and also have the option to give us your first name. You will be asked to confirm your subscription, and you can also choose to receive our monthly newsletter. Mad Mimi makes it delightfully easy for you to manage your subscription or remove yourself from our list entirely. Mad Mimi also allows you to keep whether or not you’ve looked at our emails private. Check out Mad Mimi’s privacy policy for detailed information. If you have trouble using the system, you can always email gina@nibblesip.com and we’ll be happy to help you out.
- Communications. If you send us an email through our Contact page, we do not automatically subscribe you to our email newsletters. If you ask us to subscribe you to our newsletters through our Contact page, we can do so, but you will still need to confirm your subscription.
- Analytics. When you visit our website, read a post or page, or share content to social media, certain anonymous analytical data may be collected, but this data is never associated with your name, email address, or any other personal type of information. We have no way of knowing if and when you visit, what you’ve read, what ad you’ve clicked on, or what content you’ve shared.
- Cookies. When you see ads on Nibble Sip, they are personalized based on session or permanent cookies (cookies are small data files stored on your browser by our website). You can easily block cookies (or delete existing cookies) within your browser’s preferences.
- Privacy updates. Anytime we update our privacy policy, we will let you know in simple language exactly what’s changed so that you can make an informed decision about your data privacy.
